Sports Awards for Students

Two Shrewsbury Sixth Form College Students and a member of staff received awards for sporting success and contribution at the Shropshire Schools Sports and Athletics Association International Evening.

The event recognises the achievement of those students who have played for their country at international level. This year the Association also honoured athletes, coaches and officials from Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin who represented Great Britian at the recent Olympic/Paralympic Games in Beijing.

The students honoured at the event from SSFC were Jack Harrison, who represented Great Britian in Canoe White Water Racing, and Ben Carless who played Hockey for Wales. [pictured below].

Jules O'Neill, a chemistry teacher and leader of the Sport & Recreation department received her second long service award for her contribution to local women's hockey.
