Vernon Kerswell, an ex student of SSFC, appeared on Dragons Den recently and although he didn’t receive the investment he asked for Theo Paphitiscontacted him afterwards and has since helped him with his business venture. He was determined to be successful and travelled to China to investigate why so many of the world’s products are made in China. From this he developed links with China to manufacture his range of Extreme Fliers toys (which are fantastic – Julie Hughes has played with them and they are much better than previous similar products e.g. the twin rotor blade on the helicopter made it really easy to ‘fly’! He went to Manchester to study for a degree in Business and IT and hasn’t looked back. He started selling his toys to a few toy shops, last year it was a few thousand and this year who knows????
Vernon was a student at SSFC from 2003 to 2005 and studied Business Studies to AS and Music, History and ICT onto A2. He is pictured here with Head of Business Studies Julie Hughes.
