Shrewsbury Sixth Form College Art & Design students were pleased to welcome representatives from Creative Shropshire, a network of Shropshire-based creative professionals, to their Art Show on Wednesday 3 June.
The annual event held at SSFC provides Art, Textiles, Product Design and Graphics A level students with the opportunity to exhibit their work to a wider audience which this year has included Creative Shropshire Chairman Steve Ashdown, Managing Director of Yarrington, Mark Allsop and Invest in Shropshire Officer, Claire Cox. Commenting on the show, Steve Ashdown said “We’re really impressed with the standard of work and feel very optimistic about the quality of students coming through.”
Their visit wasn’t all pleasure. Creative Shropshire had donated several prizes for students whose work showed the best creative talent. Overall winner was Charlotte Amira Prescott with Ryan Tudor and Lavinia Tyler achieving commendations. Steve Ashdown explained further ‘The judging criterion was for creative talent rather than commercial application. Charlotte’s work showed a broad range of skills and creative ability’. On hearing the results, SSFC Principal Martin Ward said ‘The overall standard of the exhibition was very high. Many of the exhibits were of a professional standard and showed impressive creativity. I am delighted for the 3 students whose work was picked out for specials awards by Creative Shropshire.”
