Congratulations to Shrewsbury Sixth Form College student Robert Davies who has been awarded an RAF Sixth Form Scholarship. This prestigious award entitles Robert to a week of leadership training with the RAF leading to pre-entry selection for the RAF Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre tests. In addition, he will receive £1000 to support his studies.
SSFC welcomed Squadron Leader Craig Gill who is the RAF’s Senior Recruiting Officer for the West Midlands and Central Wales region to present Robert with his award. He explained that in 2010 there were 80 RAF Sixth Form Scholarships awarded nationally; 12 awards were made in the West Midlands and Central Wales region out of 44 applications.
Robert is not unfamiliar with the RAF life as his father is a currently serving at RAF Shawbury. After finishing his A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, Robert is keen to go onto university to study Biological Sciences and then hopes to be able to join the RAF as a pilot. In his spare time, he is a part time swimming life guard and has represented the North West Midlands at shooting.
