Welcome to Shrewsbury Sixth Form College Admissions Department

To apply for a full-time course you need to complete a Joint Application Form for Full-time Courses.

  • If you are a student at one of our partner schools, (Belvidere, Corbet, Church Stretton, Grange, Mary Webb, Meole Brace, Priory, Sundorne or Wakeman) your school will arrange for the distribution and completion of the application form. Your school will also arrange for the forms to be delivered to us.
  • If you are from any other school, to obtain a form you can either download one from this website, contact the college on 01743 235491 or email admissions@ssfc.ac.uk. Once you have completed your part of the form, you must hand it in to your school for them to add the reference and predicted grades, your school will then forward the form to us.

The closing date for all applications is 12th February 2010, however applications received after this date will be given full consideration.

What happens next?

Every applicant will be offered an interview.

  • Partner school applicants are interviewed at their schools and we arrange the interviews through your school.
  • Non Partner school applicants are interviewed here in College. You will receive a letter with a date and time inviting you come into College.

We understand that you may feel a little nervous about your interview. However the interview is a chance for us to find out more about you and why you would like to attend Shrewsbury Sixth Form College. It is also a chance for you to ask questions and find out more about the College. It is useful before the interview for you to make sure you have read the prospectus and understand the entry requirements for the courses you are choosing. Also re-read your personal statement if you have kept a copy, as this will also be discussed at your interview. Make a note of any questions you would like to ask as it is easy to forget on the day!

Decisions

You will receive a letter in April stating whether or not we are able to offer you a place at the College. Priority is given to our Partner School applicants but all applications are given full consideration.  All offers are conditional on you meeting the entry requirements for the courses you have applied for – check the prospectus for specific entry requirements.

Induction Days

The Induction days take place on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd July 2010. All students who have been offered a place are expected to attend these important days.
You will be able to sample the courses you have chosen, meet your new tutors and fellow students and start to find your way around College. Please try not to miss these days.

Finally…….if at any point you decide you wish to withdraw your application, please inform us as soon as possible, we may be able to offer the place to someone else on our waiting list.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Liz Hird – Admissions Manager on 01743 237931 or email admissions@ssfc.ac.uk
