Achievements by Shrewsbury Sixth Form College students in the sporting arena have been recognised by the Shropshire Schools' Sports & Athletics Association at the John Beswick International Awards Presentation Evening held last night at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
Phil Poulton, Chair of the SSSAA, in opening the event said that 'to be classified as an elite sportsperson requires the highest levels of personal commitment and unstinting dedication to years of preparation, physical conditioning, mental development and physiological care'. This statement is wholly true, given that all of the students at SSFC are pursuing their A level studies, preparing for the next stage in their lives and being fully committed members of the college with many of them taking part in other college activities too.
'The John Beswick International Awards recognises those sportsmen and women who have represented their county in their chosen sport. I, on behalf of SSFC, add my congratulations to the all of our students who have committed themselves to pursing excellence both on the sports field and academically.' Martin Ward, Prinicipal
