  • Who is it for?

    This qualification provides the knowledge and skills to enable learners to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective gym sessions. This qualification will provide entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2 and will be achieved in the context of gym allowing learners to become employed within the leisure and fitness industry as gym instructors.

  • Entry Requirements

    This qualification is open to all - The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There are also professional discussions involving communication, other communication skills required (discussing, reading and writing) involved and learners should have the ability to self-study and research around a variety of topics.  Experience in leading / participating in gym-based fitness is advised.

  • What does the course involve?

    • Unit 1 - fundamentals of anatomy and Physiology for exercise and fitness professionals
    • Unit 2 - providing a positive customer experience to exercise and fitness participants
    • Unit 3 - principles of physical activity, exercise and training approaches to develop fitness and health
    • Unit 4 - health screening, risk stratification and scope of practise
    • Unit 5 - health awareness and lifestyle management
    • Unit 6 - supporting clients in a gym based environment
    • Unit 7 – plan, deliver and evaluate gym based training
  • How is the course assessed?

    • Written applied case study questions

    • knowledge on a variety of exercises
    • practical assessments
  • Additional Notes

    Although a Level 2, content and assessment has elements of an equivalent Level 3 course.
