Eligibility for FREE Level 2 Distance Learning Courses

  • Aged 19 or over as of the current academic year
  • Be resident in England and live in a postcode area that is eligible for funding
  • Settled status in the UK**
  • Not currently enrolled on any other government funded course or started an application for one.

**Funding isn’t available for Skilled Worker visas, Student visas, Graduate visas, Sponsorship (skilled/seasonal) visas, or any visa with a study restriction.

  • How much does it cost?

    This course is currently being offered free of charge. If, however, the learner withdraws early without completing the course, a charge may be incurred to cover the cost of the course materials.

  • Who is it for?

    This qualification aims to develop learners' understanding of autism and the principles of supporting autistic individuals - covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour, and how autistic individuals can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

    This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support autistic individuals.

    It is useful for learners who provide direct support and those working in sectors such as:

  • Entry Requirements

    There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification.

  • What does the course involve?

    This course involves the following units:

    • Introduction to autism
    • Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism
    • Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
    • Sensory processing, perception and cognition in individuals with autism
    • Supporting positive behaviour in autistic individuals
    • Supporting autistic individuals to live healthy and fulfilled lives
  • How is the course assessed?

    To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units detailed in the qualification specification.

    You are required to successfully complete six mandatory units.

    A formal assessment is completed at the end of each module and submitted to us for marking.

  • Further Information

    The objective of this qualification is to help learners to progress within employment in a variety of sectors, and in a number of job roles where an understanding of autism and knowledge of how to support autistic individuals is required.

    You will study this course online via the e-assessor learning portal.  Our support staff and assessors are on hand to guide and help you throughout your qualification.

    All materials comprise of a set of high-quality activity workbooks. These materials have been officially endorsed by the relevant awarding organisation as meeting the requirements of the qualifications. Learners will be provided with all the necessary workbooks to complete the programme and will have the opportunity to work through a series of reflective tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge.
