  • When can I apply?

Applications for the academic year 2026-27 will be open in June 2026.

Submit your application and supporting evidence by the end of July 2026 for support to be in place for September.

Applications are accepted throughout the year. At peak times, processing time takes up to six weeks.

  • What supporting evidence do I need for my application?

Vulnerable Bursary requires a confirmation letter from your social worker that you are in care/Care Leaver OR three months of Universal Credit statements if you are supporting yourself independently.

For all other bursary types, we require three months of evidence of all household income. For example, this could be three months of Universal Credit statements. We need to see all pages of any benefit statements to make an assessment.

Please have your supporting documents ready to upload, as you will not be able to submit your application without them.

  • My circumstances have changed. How do I let the college know and submit new documents?

    1. Complete the application form, which includes some questions about your household and how you plan on travelling to college.
    2. Upload, email, or hand in at Student Services your supporting documents of household income or other eligibility criteria.
    3. The Student Services team will check the evidence and request any further evidence needed. The team will use your evidence to calculate an annual household income.
    4. The student will receive email updates whenever a change is made to the status of their bursary application. This is the email they used to apply to college.

If approved, the team will assess what in-kind support to put in place and will send the student details of other support available upon request throughout the year.

The Student will receive an email to confirm which travel pass has been awarded if eligible.

If you aren’t eligible for one of our funds, we will direct you to other sources of support which may be able to help.

  • How do I access the free college meals?

The current daily allowance is £3.60 (subject to change). This is automatically uploaded to your student ID badge at the beginning of each week, based on your number of timetabled days in college. If you are in college for three days, you will receive £10.80 each week. You can use your allowance at any of the cafés on campus.

Students will need to budget their spending throughout the week. Students who need help budgeting can request that their meal allowance be loaded onto their card daily.

Students/parents/carers can check the balance by asking Student Services or by checking RemsPay. Additional top-ups can be made by parents/carers.
